Description:
(a) cream enameled aluminum case, gray plastic QWERTY keyboard is positioned in front of and above a lower rounded bar in front which holds the twenty cell refreshable braille display; on the rounded front is a rectangular opening for the Papenmeier "Easy Access Bar", a bar with black rubber nubs; connectors on back panel, left to right: on/off switch, jack for external power supply/battery charger, 25-pin female parallel port; PS2 type external keyboard connector, RJ-11 modem connector, USB port, standard 9-pin serial port, headphone jack, PCMCIA (or card bus) slot, and RJ-45 ethernet port; on top, the twenty cell braille display is placed along the front line, behind the Easy Access Bar, each cell has an integrated cursor routing key above it; on right side of braille display is built-in speaker grill; to left is small microphone grill; screen printed on top of unit in blue and gray, "PAPENMEIER BRAILLEX ELba"; maker's label on base, serial number 1860.22A; (b) black plastic 16V ACDC transformer and power cord, ASTEC model SA35-3153, labeled "braillex" in braille on adhesive label.
