8.25" diameter earthenware plate on raised, slotted foot with two holes pierced in foot for hanging; plate has a raised rim; gray glossy glaze; sculpted in relief on obverse is the alphabet in raised print and braille characters, also an open book, a slate/stylus, and a portrait of Louis Braille; in print and braille, "THE BRAILLE SYSTEM - 1827-1977".
