- History/Provenance:
- In 1947, APH broke ground for a factory annex of 37,500 square feet. Designed by architect Arthur Tafel, the addition, which cost $285,000, allowed APH to once again house all of its activities under one roof (in the late 1930s, the company had leased space on So. Brook St., in Louisville, for its braille stereotyping and printing production. In 1940, that production was relocated to a leased space on West Broadway, along with the company's bindery, machine shop, and map and slate production). Off-site activities began moving into the annex in July 1948. Photo taken for the American Printing House for the Blind by professional photographer.
