Summary/Description: Item consists of six disbound pages and 2 fold-out illustrations containing the letters patent and specifications for the Diplographe, a writing machine for both sighted and blind users. Material may have been removed from the Commissioners of Patents Journal. The machine is described as having two type wheels, one with dots and one with letters, to emboss and print simultaneously on separate sheets of paper. Desired characters are selected by manually turning the wheels, then a handle is pulled that connects to a carriage and moves the wheels against the paper, making the impressions. William Edward Gredge is listed as the patent agent, acting on behalf of Ernest Recordon, Professeur de Physique, Geneva, Switzerland.
