Administrative History: A Westrex 3D Stereodisk Transfer Recording System was installed, along with a new Scully recording lathe, in the late 1960s at APH as an experimental system. Basically, the 3D recorder cut two channels of sound into a single groove on a record master to create a stereo recording. According to APH Audio Engineer John Zinnenger, it was never used for regular record production. APH discontinued record production in 1993 and the system was subsequently scrapped.
