Administrative History: James Chandler pioneered voice indexing of cassette recordings for blind and print-disabled users, developing procedures for recording spoken index terms at fast forward speed on a parallel track to that of the recorded text. Audible only in fast foward mode, voice indexing increased the ease of finding specific sections in the recording.
