Wedge-shaped silver-gray plastic chassis with large integral handle on left; speaker grill in upper left; built-in microphone grill in upper right; top center of the front has three pairs of up and down buttons for tone, volume and speed; beneath these buttons, around the centre of the unit, is 3 by 4 matrix of numeric buttons; to left of numerics is go-to-page key, bookmark key, and record button; to right of numerics is power key and eject key; beneath the numerics are rewind, play/stop, and fast forward keys; slot for CD loading on front; headphone, remote control, line out, and power jacks on right side; line-in and microphone jacks, and SD memory card slot, on back; sealed battery compartment on bottom; screen printed at top right, "Victor Reader Classic + with recording"; label on bottom, "VISUAIDE Model 104VRC Input +7.5 Volts DC S/N 95-1104-000876".
