Description: White postcard shows an illustration of Valentin Haüy on the front. A postage stamp issued in France has the same image by engraver Jules Piel and is affixed beneath. Postmarked: December 5-6, 1959, La Croix-Rouge et la Poste, Chalons-Sur-Marine. Text printed in French beneath the illustration reads [translation]: "Valentin Haüy, Benefactor of Humanity, born in Saint-Just (1745-1822), founder of l'Institution des Jeunes Aveugles. It was he who imagined letters in relief for the instruction of the blind." Reverse is divided and has "Editions Bourgogne" printed in the dividing line with a logo containing the letters "CM." Stamp was issued 150 years from Haüy's founding in Paris of the first school for blind children.
