Scope & Content: Video captures the event honoring Terry Hayes Sales' then-sixty years of narration at the American Printing House for the Blind (APH), where she read books recorded for the Talking Book program of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. The event was held at the University Club of Louisville, Kentucky, on August 12, 1998. Milton Metz, another APH Talking Book narrator, was Master of Ceremonies, and a musical tribute was performed by Karen Karsh, a singer/song writer who is blind. At the end of the video are copies of broadcast segments that aired on local television news stations of interviews conducted with Sales, at APH, about her achievement. Broadcast segments were taped by Guthrie/Mayes Public Relations, Louisville, KY.

Administrative History: In 1998, the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) honored Terry Hayes Sales for her sixty years of service as a narrator for the Talking Book program of he National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), a division of the Library of Congress. She began recording books in the APH studios in 1938. A videorecording of the event was made by APH for in-house use.
