Summary/Description: Single issue, July 1907, of the monthly publication. "Braille Edition" in American (Modified) braille. Front cover has publishing information in Boston line letter and American braille; table of contents includes a key to American braille used in the issue; raised line illustration on page 20 of the flag of France; July through October 1907 braille calendar embossed on back cover recto. Reddish-brown paper cover; saddle-stitched; single-side embossing; pages 1-24 are right facing (recto), and remaining pages left facing (verso).
History/Provenance: Embossed in the system known as Modified or American Braille, developed by Joel T. Smith, in 1878. Matilda Ziegler Magazine for the Blind was first published in 1907. It was distributed freely and initially produced in New York point and braille. Later, and for several years, it was also offered in Moon type. Circa 1966, it would only be produced in braille. A general-interest magazine, its contents included current events, literature, and poetry, and information specifically related to blindness and visual impairment. The last braille issue was published in November 2009, as the magazine became an online-only publication. It ceased in 2014.
