Administrative History: Teletype tape and printouts are believed to be from a failed experiment with the Brailemboss device, developed by MIT, as part of a project of MIT's Sensory Aids Development and Evaluation Center to simultaneously produce ink print and braille from machine-readable input using paper tape. The project was funded in part by the John Hartford Foundation, along with federal funding under the jurisdiction of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. The American Printing House for the Blind produced some books using the MIT Brailemboss. The MIT project resulted in the development of the DOTSYS program.
