History/Provenance: The Division for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (later known as the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped) of the Library of Congress began offering a disc-only version of its Talking Book Topics with the Jan/Feb 1974 issue, to reduce costs and use of resources. Readers could still request the print version, which was made available with a possible delay of several months. The return address on the envelope was that of the American Foundation for the Blind, one of the agencies (along with the American Printing House for the Blind, and Eva-Tone) that were responsible for the flexible disc recordings. This issue was originally mailed to Mary Henson of Eddyville, Kentucky, according to the mailing label. It was found in a piano bench that had belonged to the donor's mother, who was not visually impaired and whose history of acquiring the issue is not known.
