Description: (a) Stainless steel micrometer; C-shaped frame stamped with markings from Brown & Sharps Mfg. Co. in Providence, RI and a conversion chart of fractions to decimals; deviations from standard micrometer include a squat cylinder on the barrel or hub of the tool, a curved plate with ridged scale on the side of the cylinder moves under a a curved finger shaped plate as the tool is opened or closed; the ratchet cap has raised symbols indicating 1/5 turn; cross hatched grips on ratchet cap, thimble, and locking ring; (b) stored in a handmade, blond-painted, hinged wooden case lined with purple flannel.
