Administrative History: The Syracuse Association of Workers for the Blind (also known as the Lighthouse of Onondaga County) was established and incorporated in 1917 to provide social services, including consultations and referrals, and recreational programs for blind and visually impaired residents of Onondaga County, New York, and to promote prevention of blindness through public awareness programs. In 1991, the Syracuse Association of Workers for the Blind merged with the Central New York Association for the Hearing Impaired (CNYAHI) to become Aurora of Central New York.
