Administrative History: Created while Maude Gilliland was a student at the Ohio School for the Blind in Columbus, OH between 1900 and 1907. See file for full biography. Gilliland lost her sight as an infant when a doctor placed the wrong medicine in her eyes. She eventually graduated from the local school in Jackson County, OH. She married Walter Burton around 1919, and the couple farmed and raised a family in the area. Her family donated her school writing materials to APH in 2011.
