Administrative History: St. Nicholas Institute for the Visually Handicapped (Yayasan St. Nicholas), today known as St. Nicholas Home, was established in 1926 by the Anglican Church as a home for homeless and disabled children. Originally located in Malacca, Malaysia, the organization moved in 1931 to Penang and by 1938 focused solely on services for the blind. By the early 1950s, St. Nicholas offered both a residential school and home for the blind. By the early 1980s, the school became the full responsibility of the Malaysian government, under the administration of the Ministry of Education. Annual reports of the St. Nicholas Residential School are included in these reports of the organization.
