Administrative History: The San Francisco Association for the Blind (SFAB) began as the San Francisco Reading Room and Library for the Blind, which was founded in 1902. The name was changed in 1914. Services expanded to include vocational training and employment to blind and visually impaired residents of Northern California through its workshop, Blindcraft, where rattan furniture and brooms were produced. In 1958, SFAB merged with Recreation for the Blind, another non-profit agency located in San Francisco, to become the San Francisco Lighthouse for the Blind (SFLB),
