Description: Relief picture produced by Martin Kunz for instruction of blind students; may be a part of his Naturkunde [Natural History] series. "Pictures for the Blind" is printed in German, French, English, and Italian as follows: Abbildungen fur Blinde. Images a l'usage des aveugles. Pictures for the Blind. Immagini ad uso dei ciechi. Below this is printed "von Direktor M. Kunz, Illzach." Creator's name and location are embossed in German braille, at bottom. Three raised figures of starfish: the serpent star, also known as the brittle star (top figure); the underside of the serpent star (lower left); and the yellow starfish (lower right). Braille labeling provides the names of the starfish in German and Latin. Entire frontside of picture is varnished; backside of each figure is also varnished.
