Description: Relief picture produced by Martin Kunz for instruction of blind students; may be a part of his Naturkunde [Natural History] series. "Pictures for the Blind" is printed at the top in German, French, English, and Italian as follows: Abbildungen fur Blinde. Images a l'usage des aveugles. Pictures for the Blind. Immagini ad uso dei chiechi. Below this is printed "von Direktor M. Kunz, Illzach." Creator's name and location are embossed in German braille, at bottom. "Kameel" is embossed in German braille beneath the raised camel, which is centered on the paper. Front of picture is varnished. Kunz' initials appear in depressed script to the lower right of the illustration. Museum has several of Kunz' relief pictures and maps in its collection. Martin Kunz was director of the Blind Institute at Illzach, Germany and a leading producer of relief pictures and maps in the 1890s. --Tactile Pictures (Eriksson, 1998, p. 107).
