Kunz" and "Illzach" are printed in raised letters at bottom; no labeling on mapped area; landmass is smooth with mountainous areas raised; rivers are indicated by raised lines; raised dots denote major cities; all five great lakes have slightly raised horizontal lines; latitude and longitude are indicated by short raised lines, with braille numbers, around the map border. Martin Kunz was director of the Blind Institute at Illzach, Germany and the leading producer of maps in Europe during the 1890s.
