Scope & Content: Print labeling on mapped area; low relief map; large bodies of water are depressed; rivers are raised; dotted line indicates borders; major cities, provinces, bordering countries, and mountain peaks of the Alps are labeled; latitude and longitude are indicated by short raised lines with braille and print numbers around perimeter of mapped area; some areas are textured with clusters of small dots or lines (vertical and diagonal), but are barely distinguishable by touch. Martin Kunz was director of the Blind Institute at Illzach, Germany and the leading producer of maps in Europe during the 1890s.
