Scope & Content: Map was originally produced in 1886; includes islands off the mainland of Italy; large bodies of water are indicated by slightly raised horizontal lines; landmasses are slightly higher and mountainous areas are elevated; raised lines indicate rivers; mapped area is labeled in print, in German; short raised lines around the border of the map indicate longitude and latitude, along with braille and print numbers; title of map, creator, and publishing information provided in print and braille at top; creator, title, and creator's location (Illzach) are also provided in raised letters along the bottom edge. Martin Kunz was director of the Blind Institute at Illzach, Germany and the leading producer of maps in Europe during the 1890s.
