Scope & Content: Drawing shows all components of the studio recording system after the addition of three new APH studios, then known as Studios 7, 8, and 9, including replay panel, tape recorders, and switch boxes in the reader's [narrator's] and copyholder's rooms. Drawn: R[honda] Barned; 10/29/1980. Barned was an APH draftsperson.

Administrative History: In fiscal year 1979, the American Printing House for the Blind added three new recording studios to its Talking Book Department to accomodate "recording of the World Book Encyclopedia as well as other work" (APH Annual Report, 1979). The studios were installed in the basement of the 1958 addition (east side) of the company's building.
