Description: Two glossy black-and-white photographs show the same image (one a close-up) of John T. Fitzgimmon, at right, delivering Newsweek Talking Magazine to subscriber Ned Cox. Fitzgimmon, in a postal service uniform that has a "letter carrier" patch on the shoulder of the left sleeve, hands a cloth-strapped fiber board container of vinyl records to Ned Cox, who is standing in the doorway of his home and is dressed in a suit and wearing dark eyeglasses. The container is stamped "U.S. Mail, Free, Sound Reproduction, Records for the Blind." Stamped in green ink on reverse of each photo: "Lin Caufield, Photographers Inc., 2100 Arthur St., Louisville 17, KY., MElrose 6-3728." Negative number is handwritten in pencil. History/Provenance: Photo was taken for the American Printing House for the Blind (APH). Newsweek Talking Magazine, recorded by APH, was first produced in 1959 and mailed without cost per Free Matter for the Blind, a federal regulation. At the time that this photograph was taken, Ned Cox was manager of the Adult Workshop for the Blind (later known as Kentucky Industries for the Blind) in Louisville.
