History/Provenance: In 1923, the Kentucky School for the Blind and APH began employing separate superintendents. Edgar Bramlette of Texas became superintendent of APH. He worked as a professor, public school superintendent, college president, and superintendent of the Texas School for the Blind before coming to APH. During his short tenure, he devoted much of his energy to perfecting interpoint braille embossing. Framed portrait was transferred to the APH Museum from within APH.
