Putty and black plastic case with a hinged lid on the top front that raises to reveal the keyboard and 20-cell refreshable braille display; clear molded plexiglass shield frames the braille display and keyboard and reveals the underlying green circuit boards and transistors; stamped on top circuit board, "KY DEPT F/T BLIND PORTABRAILLE MICROPROCESSOR BOARD"; paper label taped inside lid, "SOUTHLAND MANUFACTURING CO./LEXINGTON, KY. 40510/KY. DEPARTMENT FOR THE BLIND/PORTABRAILLE #PBS-224"; braille display is cream plastic with rectangular bright aluminum trim; blue plastic seven-ky keyboard behind braille display with a on/off slider switch to right; on the back are jacks for headphones, power supply, 25-pin parallel port, CEN36 female port; blacked out completely with marker on bottom, "JEFF CO SCHOOLS/SPECIAL EDUCATION".
