History/Provenance: The Apollo Award is the highest award presented to the general public by the American Optometric Association in recognition of service benefiting the visual welfare of individuals. Natalie Barraga, an educator and researcher known for her work in low vision and vision evaluation, was the recipient of this award in 1979. She donated this photograph to the collection of the Hall of Fame for Leaders and Legends in the Blindness Field in 2007.
