Scope & Content: Phil Hatlen served as an Ex Officio Trustee (EOT) of the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) from 1990-2007, while he was superintendent of the Texas School for the Blind. He talks about his experiences as an EOT; APH's role as a producer of educational materials for students who are blind or visually impaired; the Federal Quota; significant changes in APH products and services over the years; and future needs in educational products. Other topics include: the various jobs he has held as an educator in the field; the Hatlen Center for the Blind, which he founded in 1972 in California; and serving as APH Executive in Residence in 2009.
