Summary/Description: The first level in a series of beginning library books for braille readers. Eleanor Pester, project director; Eddy Jo Bradley, editorial director. The Preprimer Level includes 24 books, all written for this series by Eddy Jo Bradley. Each is two-sided embossed in double-spaced lines of braille (six lines to a page). There is also a corresponding "Notes for Teachers" guide, in standard print, that contains summaries of the books, and vocabulary lists and suggested activities. Books (copyright 1983) and guide (copyright 1982) are paperbacks with blue covers saddle-stitched along the fold. Raised-line tactile graphics are in some of the books. History/Provenance: The Preprimer Level of the Patterns Library Series was released as a new APH product in November 1982. The Patterns Library Series was designed to supplement Patterns: The Primary Braille Reading Program, with books that corresponded in level content, color, and size to those in the reading program. This kit was transferred in 2019 to the Museum of the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) from the APH Research Department, where it had been stored with project materials of APH project leader Eleanor Pester.
