Summary/Description: On the second page of this four-page issue, under the heading "The Blind," appears a brief article about a new writing guide developed by Thomas S Martin, "principal teacher in the Pennsylvania Institution for the Instruction of the Blind." The device consists of a flat board covered in leather on which paper is placed and covered with a plate that is perforated with several squares. A pencil or stylus is used to write or punch letter shapes.
