Scope & Content: According to the title page, this is volume 1 of 4 volumes. On title page: "Published by G. T." Hardcover; tan and green marbled paper over boards with tan cloth along binding edge. Pages glued in between spacers and thread stitched. Inserted loose in the back of book: an embossed braille pamphlet with title "Grade One [and] One Half," containing grade 1 1/2 braille contractions, punctuation, and accented letters; and, a typewritten paper of "Braille Transcribing" instructions, with handwritten note at top right of title sheet that reads "Corrected Braille Manual." Administrative History: The braille notebook may have been used in geography study and/or for transcription training. The San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind, which donated this volume to the APH Museum, had a client named Gus Torres who received training in basket weaving circa 1939, when he was about twenty years old. He had also attended the Texas School for the Blind (appears on a student list as Gustavo Torres in the school's "Catalogue" of 1924-25).
