Administrative History: The Michigan Employment Institution for the Blind was established by the state of Michigan in 1903 and opened in Saginaw in 1904, to provide vocational training, employment and a working home to adult blind residents of the state. Broom making, rug weaving, and chair caning were the primary products of the institution's workshop during the years covered by the reports in this collection.
