Scope & Content: Atlas of Africa embossed in 1 volume has raised-line maps with contracted (grade 2) braille labeling and descriptive keys, on white paper. On title page: "Embossed by the Illinois Braille & Sight Saving School, Jacksonville, Illinois, revised 1963. Distributed by the American Printing House for the Blind, Louisville, KY, 1976." The Illinois school embossed plates for a series of braille atlases in 1960. The plates were sent to the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) in 1963, when the print shop at the school closed. APH editions were first made available in 1964. White plastic comb-binding along left side; blue paper covers of heavy card stock. "Africa" appears in braille and in raised letters of dotted lines on the front cover.
