Administrative History: The Jubilee Institute for the Blind (JIB) was established in 1890 in Auckland, New Zealand, and incorporated as a charitable institution in 1892. It offered the first educational services for blind children in New Zealand, as well as a residential program and workshops for blind adults. In 1926, JIB was renamed the New Zealand Foundation for the Blind (NZFB). The school came to an end in the early 1960s and was replaced, by Homai College in Manurewa, which officially opened in 1965. NZFB became the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind in 2002.
