Description: (a) Jauny Braillewriter; rectangular wooden base with splined end pieces, hollow center holding system of springs and pulleys, base raised on four rubber feet; black enameled aluminum steel frame screwed to top of base; crackled gray plate screwed over the center of the base under the writer, stenciled in gold on left, "MADE BY/AMERICAN BRAILLE PRESS/JAUNY BRAILLEWRITER/NEW YORK PARIS"; nickel-plated steel carriage bar, nickel-plated steel paper storage roller and back plate; saw-toothed nickel-plated steel carriage advance bar on front; carriage holds keyboard, arching black enameled aluminum diebox and nickel-plated steel "U" shaped bar with back space lever, knurled carriage-release lever, and carriage return bell; keyboard has six splayed wooden keypads and central nickel-plated brass spacebar on nickeled steel keybars; paper is stored around the central 3/4" diameter paper roller, secured by a paper clamp on the roller; the secondary paper roller underneath has four red rubber grippers; braillewriter has two clampable steel bars with set screws that appear to be margin sets, but there is no apparent way to attached them; (b) brown faux-leather fibreboard carrying case; hinged lid; nickel plated steel hardware and reinforced corners; brown plastic swivel handle; two lockable latches, central spring latch; lined in brown plaid paper; illegible inked owner name and address inside lid.
