Description: Osaka-style abacus has 17 columns with 1 bead above and 4 below in the Buddhist tradition. It has a wooden frame. The back is enclosed and topped with blue felt to keep beads from slipping out of place, an adaptation for blind users. The beads, rods and bar are made of wood. Five smooth, brass pinheads serve as markers along the front top and bottom edges of the frame and along the bar to facilitate use by blind individuals.
