Description: Tokyo-style abacus, designed for and used by blind students, has a wooden frame with enclosed back. 20 columns have been created by placing 19 wooden dividers in the frame. Five wire rods, placed in rows through the column dividers, hold lever-shaped counters that are arranged 1 above the bar and 4 below. Counters are made of wood and flip back and forth. Five large and five small smooth-brass pinheads serve as markers along the bottom edge of the frame. A paper label on the back, at left, is incscribed in print "No. 16 1. The Tokyo School for the Blind."
