Description: A full-color tactile map of the United States of America that also provides 17 layers of audio information for each state through the tap of a Talking Tactile Pen. Map is vacuum formed on coated paper and affixed to a black-coated foam core board that folds in half for storage. It features both contracted (grade 2) braille and large print labeling and includes raised landmass (contiguous U.S., Alaska inset, Hawaii inset), raised-line borders, and raised circles for capital cities. The Talking Tactile Pen (Touch Graphics, Inc.) is black plastic, with a stylus tip at one end and a USB connector and audio jack at the opposite end. Lightly tapping the pen on the mapped areas or the map's menu bar controls the audio, which is heard through the pen's built in speaker. Standard headphones or external speakers can also be used. Components of product include: a) Map (copyright 2014, American Printing House for the Blind). b) Modified Livescribe™ echo™ smartpen (Talking Tactile Pen) with audio content. c) Storage pouch (clear bubble wrap with adhesive strip at one end) for pen and cable. d) Instruction Booklet in large print (11 pages; copyright 2015, APH). e) Instruction Booklet in braille (21 pages; copyright 2015, APH). f) Blue cardboard carrying box with retractable, white plastic handle (box style is one-piece with fold-over lid that closes with tab inserts; top of box has a large label with print text and a color illustration of the map, and two clear braille labels). Another component, the USB charging cable, is missing (not with map when it was transferred to the Museum). Additionally, there are two parts lists: one in braille (g) and one in print (h).
