History/Provenance: The Guide was transferred to the Museum of the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) from the APH Research Department. The Fractional Parts of Wholes kit was developed as a mathematics aid to "introduce the basic concepts of fractional parts to primary grade students" -- source: Report on Research and Development Activities: Fiscal Year 1971 (Educational Research and Development Group, American Printing House for the Blind). It was approved for production in FY 1973. The author of the Guide was an associate in the company's Educational Research and Development Group.
