Description: Black-and-white photo illustration on a detached page from an unidentified publication; photo depicts a classroom of young boys and 1-2 instructors in the Illinois Institution for the Blind. 4 young boys stand behind desks; 3 stand in the back of the photo. Students at large desks are woodworking, facing the front of the classroom. Two desks in the foreground are not being used. Three completed shelving units sit on a table at the front of the classroom; woodworking tools are visible on all desk tops. Sloyd education (mostly woodworking or other handicrafts) was considered important curriculum at the Institution.
