Administrative History: The Illinois Division of Visitation of Adult Blind, established in 1917, provided in-home instruction in tactile reading and writing, handicraft and vocational training, and employment services (including the vending stand and manufacturing workshop programs) to adult blind residents of Illinois. The Division was under the Department of Public Welfare, which was abolished in 1961.
