- Glossy, black-and-white photo reprint shows Eleanor Roosevelt (left) guiding to her lips the left hand of a smiling Helen Keller (at right), who was deafblind, so that Keller can feel Roosevelt speak. Keller wears a corsage fastened near her left shoulder. She was attending a farewell banquet held in her honor by the the American Foundation for Overseas Blind before an upcoming tour of the Far East. Copy print was made by the John Milton Society from its archives.

- Received with John Milton Society for the Blind (JMS) records from the American Foundation for the Blind. Helen Keller was honored at a banquet hosted by the American Foundation for Overseas Blind (AFOB) on February 1, 1955, three days before her scheduled visit to Far East nations. AFOB was a co-sponsor of the trip. In 1979, JMS made copies of the photo for a New York Times article.
