Description: George Patterson was the "dean" of talking book narrators at APH. He was a native of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and a graduate of the University of Louisville. George began as a broadcaster for WAVE radio while teaching English at du Pont Manual High School in 1938. He quit his teaching job in 1939 when promoted to program director. He became the host of WAVE’s Man On the Street segment, and by 1952, program director at WAVE-TV. George began reading at APH in 1937, one of our first three narrators. He retired from APH in 1992 and was a charter member of the American Foundation for the Blind Talking Book Hall of Fame.
