Scope & Content: Printed reports of the Florida Council for the Blind, documenting the activities of the state agency from fiscal years ending 1942 to 1968. Reports for 1942-1943 were issued semi-annually; a biennial report was issued for 1962/1964. Reports for fiscal years ending 1948 and 1949 are titled Annual Achievement Report; for fiscal years ending 1950-1956, Annual Report of Achievement. Financial statements only are available in this collection for fiscal year ending June 1968. Many reports include black-and-white photo illustrations.

Administrative History: The Florida Council for the Blind (later called the Division of Vocational Services) was created as a state agency by the Florida Legislature in 1941 to provide vocational rehabilitation for blind and visually impaired adults in the state. Social and medical services for blind and visually impaired children and adults not eligible for vocational rehabilitation were also provided.
