Scope & Content: A mimeographed copy of a typewritten feasibility report prepared by the American Printing House for the Blind about a production system designed, made, and tested at APH for making 9-inch, 8 1/3 rpm flexible disc talking book records. Presents details of the system's design, construction, testing, and production process, and includes a review of a 1970 progress report. Three drawings show a flowchart of the production process, the hydraulic power unit circuit, and a 7-inch record die modification. Four photographs (separately cataloged) show machinery. Administrative History: In 1970, the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) started developing a new automated system for producing flexible phonograph records. Production using the new system began in 1972. The feasibility report was prepared for the Library of Congress (LC), for whom APH was producing recordings on flexible disc for LC's Talking Book program.
