History/Provenance: Finis Davis became superintendent of the American Printing House for the Blind in 1947 after 8 years as superintendent of the Arkansas School for the Blind. At the Printing House, he directed projects to computerize braille transcription and automate production. He was a leader in the field of education for blind people. In 1973 he was awarded the Migel Medal for outstanding service in the field of education and work for the blind presented by the American Foundation for the Blind.
