Description: The engraved illustration with the caption "Blind Basket-Makers" was published in The Illustrated London News, September 30, 1871, page 316 (published by William Little, London, England). It depicts 5 blind workers (4 adults and a young boy) weaving baskets . On the verso, page 315, column 2, is an accompanying article, "Employment of the Blind." The article proposes that the blind can and should be employed in more profitable work than that of basket making, notably piano tuning, and encourages educational training in this occupation.
