Administrative History: In 1974, the American Printing House for the Blind was reconsidering the final form for its then single largest project to date, the recorded version of the World Book Encyclopedia, from that of phonograph records to a newer media: audiocassettes. In fiscal year 1975, the company planned to develop four working models of a 4-track, indexing cassette player to be field tested with a sample set of the cassettes. The recorded World Book and the final version of the World Book player were introduced as a new APH product in fiscal year 1981.
