Administrative History: The Enchanted Hills National Foundation for the Blind is identified in this annual report as "the first agency in the western part of the United States to emphasize as its objective 'integration' of blind people into society." The Foundation's address is the same at that of the Recreation for the Blind, a non-profit organization founded in 1947, with headquarters on Geary Boulevard in San Francisco, California. Enchanted Hills (Camp), a recreational camp for visually impaired children and adults, began in 1950 under the auspices of Recreation, and is listed as one of the services offered by the Foundation. (Additional information about the Foundation was not found; and, its relationship to Recreation is not made clear, though the mission and programs seem the same.)
