Summary/Description: Contains two short inspirational stories for children: "Emma and the Little Blind Boy," and "Grandmother's Tales. My Tenth Birthday." Brown clothbound boards with black-stamped design on front cover. A color illustration, measuring 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 in., is glued to the front cover, at bottom right, and shows a young girl with "Emma" printed at top. A label that reads "David F. Smith, Bookseller and Stationer, Frederick, Md." is glued to the top left corner of the front pasted endpaper. A handwritten inscription in pencil on the front flyleaf reads: "Emma [Mop?]burg 1877." A frontispiece shows a circular illustration of a young girl holding a book with a picture of an elephant. A crow stands on the ground behind her. "Photo. Emp. Co. N.Y." is printed at the bottom. On the title page, at center, is an illustration of a young girl sleeping on grass. An illustration for the latter story shows two men rescuing a young girl from a brook.
